Hey y’all! I hope you’re surviving the winter weather. I thought I’d share a quick outfit here before I attempt to summarize another sermon. I’m so behind it’s not even funny. Good news is I think I’m caught up on emails! If I haven’t responded to you, let me know.
This is an outfit I wore last week when it was super rainy, windy, and chilly outside. It was a day that contained a few errands to run, which meant getting in and out of the mud-covered car and walking through wet driveways, so I opted for jeans and boots so I wouldn’t have to be watching my skirts. I was wishing for a pair of black or gray boots to wear with this instead of my brown ones, but, alas I do not have any and my black rainboots have cracks. I just had to relax and wear the brown boots. My beautiful green necklace is a gift from a reader who was so sweet and mailed it to me with a beautiful, thoughtful prayer. Thank you so much, Emma!
It’s been a hot drinks month. My new favorite is a “London Fog Latte” made with earl gray tea, coconut milk, vanilla, and maple syrup. Guilt-free makes it even better. πŸ˜‰

  1. I completely love this. So inspiring because I'm wanting to start wearing pants but still keep covered – you nail it all in this outfit and it's super cute, too. πŸ™‚ Definitely will keep this look in mind.

And being that I'm practically paleo now, I will soooo have to try that latte recipe.

  2. Olivia, your outfit is so cute! It looks really comfortable but really cozy, too! πŸ˜€ The rainy, cold weather just left- finally!
It is now really sunny and gorgeous outside! I just loooove your blog!!! May God bless you exceedingly and abundantly. πŸ˜€ The latte sounds delish!

  3. Very cute! Love that tunic with the jeans. I need to start figuring out how to get used to tunics myself; I'm going to be using them w/jeans/jean capris alllll summer long, I think!

Has it been as seemingly unreasonably cold in TN as it is down here in SC?

  4. Great outfit! I've been wearing pants quite a bit lately too, -36 deg makes skirts not so inviting-ya know? Lol!
    Thanks for posting, Olivia !

Your last Awk+Awe I forgot to tell you how glad I am (though I doubt as much as you) that you have finished up your meds! Yay!! And how much I loved your hairdo! πŸ™‚

We had a great weekend! It is always great to spend time with friends!

  6. I really like this outfit! I love your boots! I've been thinking about buying a pair of tall leather boots but I'm not sure if I would wear them enough to justify buying them!

I love wet and rainy weather! I may just have to try that latte recipe!
Glad to see you're feeling better! πŸ™‚

  7. Hi Olivia! I really like your outfit, especially the cardigan! It has been cold, hasn't it? I find myself wearing pants more often in the winter too:) I was wondering if there was any way if when you get the time if you could possibly do a post on your sewing blog about the skirt and blouse you made for the 'Busy in Brown Stripes' post you did awhile ago? They are beautiful and I hope to be able to recreate them-I would really appreciate it;) I love your blog, keep up the good work! You are such an inspiration for we girls who want to help protect our brothers in Christ by dressing modestly. Thanks so much Olivia!

  8. Somehow, those brown boots add to the look when worn with the floral tunic. πŸ™‚ Maybe it's just the photos, though.
London fog Latte? Could you pleaaaasssse, please, share a recipe? Or at least a 'general idea' of the measurements/proportions of the ingredients? It sounds so wonderful.

    1. haha, sure!

      1 cup earl gray tea
1 cup vanilla coconut milk (either in a carton or a little bit of the canned cream stuff mixed with water), heated
      1/2 teaspoon vanilla
maple syrup to taste, about 1 teaspoon for me if I steeped the tea right. πŸ˜‰
Stir it all together and enjoy!

  9. Gorgeous outfit… I'm traditionally a skirt-only modest gal, but your take on modestly wearing jeans with long tops is seriously making me re-think my stand… πŸ™‚
And I SECOND SAYNA'S MOTION… please please please share latte recipes! πŸ™‚

  10. I LOOOOOOOVE this outfit! It's SO cute!
It looks really good on you! You are so pretty, Olivia!
My weekend was GREAT! I had some friends over on Friday to sleepover(though we didn't do much sleeping). It's so great to be able to fellowship freely with other Christian girls my age. We had a great time. And we went to two of my little brother's basketball game. Church was really good too. πŸ™‚

  11. Hi Olivia! That is an extremely cute outfit!
You mentioned elsewhere on your blog that you believe in post-millenniumism, as in the world getting better?

  12. love the outfit! i emailed you about a month ago from my student email account and haven't heard back from you. Let me know if you didn't receive it and i will resend!

  13. Well, you're pretty much the master of making pants modest but feminine. πŸ˜‰ Thanks for the ideas! And I love your hair that way.

I had a pretty great weekend. It was packed, but not hectic, full, but not frantic, fun, but full. πŸ™‚ Just the way I like it.

  14. Hey Olivia!

This is outfit is so adorable. I love how you are able to make jeans so modest and cute! I was just wondering…what do you wear when you are just staying at home? Skirts or comfy pants? I'm torn between the two!

    Loved this post!

PS- I can't remember if you posted somewhere what you usually where at home, so I hope I'm not causing you to repeat yourself…=)

    1. Hey Ashley! Thanks! I actually wore this outfit twice last week and one of the days was a "at home" day. I just traded the leather boots for my slipper boots and was really comfy! I wear jeans/skirts half and half on at home days through the winter. But on days I'm seeing "people" I usually go for a skirt. πŸ™‚

  15. Hi from sunny Southern California!
WOW, Olivia, I absolutely adore your blouse! I went on ThredUp to find an identical one and realized that it is more like a thrift store: no two pieces are alike. I have found a bunch of good bargains at my local thrift store. But anyway, I am so excited about your way of modest living and you are my role model!

  16. Hello, Olivia, from Chattanooga, TN! I would like to ask where you get all your patterns. I love all the skirts you where and would like to try my hand at new patterns. I really enjoy the message you send through your blog. You have encouraged me to start sewing more than before! Thank you so much.

    1. Hey! I actually create my own patterns and have written an eBook that shows how to create my favorite denim skirts (with the skirt pattern being versatile for other styles). freshmodesty.com is where you can check them out! πŸ™‚

  17. Olivia, I am now hooked on London Fog Lattes. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ They are YUM. I love your blog, too. Having the inspiration to dress fashionably and modestly is wonderful!

  18. Love your blog Olivia! It is wonderful to have ideas and inspiration for dressing fashionably and modestly. πŸ™‚ Also, you now have me hooked on London Fog Lattes. They are yummy!! πŸ™‚

  19. Thanks for this post! I live in wet and windy Seattle. I've been wanting to dress more modestly, but I can't really do the skirt with flip flops deal that seems to be popular without being freezing! Thanks for the inspiration. I love your creativity!

  21. This outfit is perfect! Your blog is so beautiful and refreshing. Very encouraging. I was almost convinced to get rid of all my skinny jeans until I saw this post… now I just need some tunics haha.

  22. Olivia, I love your blog so much! I just found it, and have been pouring through your posts for the last few days πŸ™‚ I especially love your modest outfits that include jeans, because I grew up wearing jeans everyday. Only recently have I been studying and praying about how to dress modestly for God, and in finding your blog I've realized that pants can totally be as modest as skirts and dresses.

I love all of your posts, and look forward to reading a few more over the next few days! Thanks for your inspiration and encouraging messages!
