Hey y’all! I hope you had a wonderful Resurrection weekend! In years past I’ve usually tried to make or buy a pretty new outfit for the occasion, but things have been a little crazy lately. πŸ˜‰

I pulled out my bridesmaid dress I made last summer and paired it with two items I don’t wear very often: This grey flutter cardigan and my pink cut-out pumps. Because of the cardigan, I unsnapped the bow from the back of the dress and pinned it onto the front for a little more interest.
Here’s a picture of what the back bow looked like:
// outfit details //
Dress: Made by me
Cardigan: ThredUP
Shoes: ThredUP
Jewelry: Gift
Hat: Charming Charlie? Forever 21?
I’m working on hemming today, of course! So many skirts, so little time. πŸ˜‰
What did you wear to church this week? Do you usually get a new outfit?

  1. I love this outfit, Olivia! What an innovative idea to take the bow off the back. I would never have thought of that πŸ™‚

I wore this outfit to church yesterday. I don't usually get a new outfit — I don't always like getting new outfits for specific occasions; I like to make use of what I already have and save my new pieces for later when it's even more special to wear them πŸ™‚

  2. I wore a navy custom dress I ordered from eShakti the last time you blogged about it. I slipped a pink oxford over it and tied it at the waist and cuffed the sleeves. Because the pink lightened the dark navy, it was more fitting for Easter and spring. I wore nude pumps with it also, instead of navy, for the same lightening purpose.

I say that outfit was worth sharing because I felt like you when I was putting it together! You're very innovative.

  3. LOVE this outfit – the dress, shoes, cardigan, and hat all look amazing together on you! very innovative with the bow in the front of the dress. AND – that is such a gorgeous headshot of you πŸ™‚

  4. Ooh, I love your outfit! The bow is so cute on the front.

I wore a floral tiered skirt that was my moms and I made knee length by removing the bottom hem. With that I wore a white tank top and a pink cardigan, both my moms πŸ™‚

  5. I love the outfit; makes your eyes pop! I wore a tan skirt with a aqua-ish tank top, along with a gray jacket over it. I dressed it up with a simple silver necklace, ring, and white lacy headband. πŸ˜€

  6. I wore a dark blue maxi skirt and a sorta flowy, flowery top with sparkly earrings. πŸ˜‰ That was fun.

Know how you feel with the hemming…I'm trying to finish my novel right now. Oh, brother. I should be super busy with it but of course I slack off more often than not. Thank you for encouraging me to work as you work lol!

  7. This outfit looks great on you! I love that bow on the front, I never would have thought of that! I also love how you mix colors… a lot of fashion bloggers I have seen say "Make sure you have a common color thread!", and then proceed to make sure that they have green in their skirt, shirt, hat/scarf, and jewelry… and I just don't do that. I like things that, as my Aunt coined it, "They don't match… but they go!!!", heehee :).

  8. We don't go to church but I finally got to wear a beautiful, insanely expensive, white dress my spouse bought me a few years ago to family dinner! I added a bright green cardigan and white heels. Haven't felt that pretty in awhile!

  9. Beautiful outfit! πŸ˜€ I like how you restyled your bridesmaid dress, and that it is in a style that is so easy to use other than wedding wear.

  10. I have to say it again: this whole blog is amazing!! All the fashion advice & tips, shopping suggestion, tricks of the trade, and so forth, are invaluable, especially for us more fashion-challenged (frumpy, anyone?!) folks! ;D Also your Fresh Apparel endeavor is so inspiring to me, as I've always {really, really} wanted to do something like that but just never have. So you go, girl!! πŸ˜€ …Grace

  11. I didn't get home from Easter Vigil on Saturday night until 1 am, so I just threw on my favorite dress, called it good, and prayed that I would stay awake enough to not drop the Chalice during Communion.

  12. Thanks for this great blog, Olivia! Does anyone have any advice on what to wear and/or how to do your hair so you look a little older? (I'm a little limited bc I wear a headcovering all the time) Maybe this is just dumb to ask, but literally _everyone_ I meet thinks I'm 12/13 yrs old and I'm almost 21!! Haha, I really do think it's funny but yeah…any ideas?! πŸ˜€ I'm very petite and the shortest in my family at 5'2''. For example, recently at a church the usher put me in the SS class with my 12 yo sister, lol! I get so many looks and double-takes (sometimes I wear shades just so people will stop gawking at the little girl driving a 15-passenger), and I'm just waiting to be pulled over by a cop bc I look too young, lol! And I won't even get started about going to college! I don't have a complex about it (it just means I can get away with more, haha!) but it'd be nice to hear any tips on how petite gals can still look like ladies. πŸ˜€ Thanks in advance, y'all!

    1. If you dress a little more 'adult like' (darker colours, dark blouses, black pencil skirts etc.) will make you appear as an adult instead of a child. and if you wear a little heal, it will obviously make you look taller. Shorter haircuts often make people look older, depending on your face shape, straitening your hair can instantly make you look older, as well as wearing it in a bun. Wearing a little makeup can make your face look older (darker shades of lipstick, a little mascara and eyeliner etc.) Don't go over board thought. you don't want to look like a 13 year old messing with her mom's makeup. But if you do all these things and still look like a child, than theres not a lot you can do. you'll eventually look your age.

  13. That outfit is so cute on you! It goes great with your eyes. You also have great fashion tips, it is awesome to hear your advice. I can't wait for the next post. P.S. I love the dress and hat. I usually by something new so this year my dad and I bought a white dress that come right below the knees with blue spiral patterns on the bottom. I can't wait to read more πŸ™‚
