Hey! I bet y’all are dying to know who won the giveaway! I thought I’d share something super fun first.  The Botkin ladies were kind and invited me to come out to their place this morning for an experimental “Natural cosmetics mixing day”.

They explained the different things (minerals, oxides, pigments, oils, gels) we would be using to create our own foundations and concealer, and then worked with us to understand coloring and to get the products exactly the color we needed. It was so amazing how precise one can get when making their own make-up.

In addition to bringing out natural beauty and minimizing facial distractions, these concoctions are designed to help heal the skin and repair things like scars and broken blood vessels by using liquids such as aloe vera juice and vitamin K oil.
My friend and blog reader, Laurel, mixing up her foundation! Coffee grinders are good for more than their name suggests. πŸ˜‰
Anna Sophia was also super kind and did my eye make-up for me. I’ve never been able to figure out the natural-look eye shadow thing and she gave some great pointers. I can’t wait for her make-up tips in the Reclaiming Beauty Webinar! She did some other girls’, too, and really has an eye for it.
This is what I’m wearing today- Shirt: Made by me
Tank: JCPenny’s
Skirt: Gift

This is the concealer I made. It’s lovely stuff and really does it’s job without me looking like a cupcake.

So, you ready for the winner?! Drumroll…. Rafflecopter has chosen….

Amy W.!

Congratulations Amy, on winning a registration to the Reclaiming Beauty Webinar! I’ve given the Botkin’s your email address and they should be contacting you soon. πŸ™‚ Everyone else, you should really think about signing up. I think it will be well worth the price. It starts on September 25th, so don’t wait too long. πŸ˜‰

…and no, I was not bribed or asked to promote this webinar. I’m just genuinely excited. πŸ™‚

How many of y’all are gonna join?

  1. Oh, wow!!! I can't believe I won! Thank you! πŸ™‚ πŸ˜€

I am so excited for the webinar to begin!

    Again, thank you! πŸ™‚

  2. You got to spend an entire afternoon with the Botkins? Oh, what I'd give to meet them and yourself! I actually live in Nashville, so I keep thinking that I'll eventually run into you somewhere, since you post photos of yourself in a bunch of places that I recognize (besides your front porch). πŸ™‚
My family was even planning on going to Cheekwood on Homeschool Day, but we didn't because I didn't want to be the only girl in skirts AGAIN! So I know how it felt. But I would have come if I'd only known you'd be there! I actually feel like you're one of my best friends. Kinda weird for you, since you've never even seen me. But our values, ages, styles; all so similar! So thanks for being a good friend. Here's to hoping I'll eventually get to meet you!

    1. Haha, aw! It would be so fun to meet you sometime! If you're ever out west of Nashville, lemme know! We'd love to have you. Although, honestly, I'm just normal and shy and not nearly as cheerful as my pictures make me out to be. πŸ˜‰ I think the place I most frequent in your area is the Cool Springs Costco… or ChickFilA! πŸ˜€ If you ever see me around town, please don't hesitate to introduce yourself! πŸ˜€

  3. The webinar is at 2am here so I think I will be watching it afterwards. That said I really don't want to miss out on the question and answer sessions …..

If it was on a weekend I would probably stay up!

  4. Did you know that the Botkin Sisters lived in New Zealand for a while (and not far from us too)?

I've only personally seen them once, and that was when I was like 5-6-7 …..

    1. Hey, do you live in N.Z.? We live in Australia πŸ™‚ We were in the US for a while in 2014-2015 and stayed with the Botkins for a few days. They're an amazing family. Now we're back in Australia and can't see any of the friends we made in the US πŸ™ But I do love reading blogs because I feel like I'm still connected.. kinda! Ha ha. I feel like even if there aren't many like-minded people around, I can be encouraged online πŸ™‚

  5. I have that same skirt and I really like it πŸ™‚ My mom got it a loooong time ago, and then I went through a time when I never wore it. But I'm so glad I didn't get rid of it, because as my style has changed, it's become one of my favorites! I usually wear it with a white & blue striped tee, and a short-sleeved blue cardigan. And brown jewelry to bring in the brown.

I'm really starting to get interested in the natural make-up! So many things that I would never think of. Great ideas!

  6. Thanks for the post Olivia, we (my mom, my sister and I) are interested in making our own make-up, and your posts have given us an idea of what it is like.
I have to say, I like Laurel's taste in clothing. I was wearing that same shirt when I first read this post πŸ™‚

  7. So, what specific ingredients did you use in your foundation? I want to make my own foundation, but there are sooo many suggestions for what to use online! I would love, love your suggestions! πŸ™‚ Also, I love that you did a makeup post. I'm kind of a makeup guru, but am in NO way a guru of making my own makeup yet! Keep up the great work, darlin!
