Hey y’all! The snow and ice has finally melted here and the mud has come! I love mud, so I’m not complaining, it just takes a little more thought as you choose an outfit and shoes.

For the first time in my life, I finally own black leather boots! I found these on ThredUP and they were absolutely perfect for the muddy weather. They are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned and I love them. πŸ™‚

On our dirt roads, it is impossible to keep a car clean. Our entire drive to church is on muddy roads, so if you don’t do a hop/jump/awkward exit from the car, you will get filthy. I like knee-length dresses and boots, as I don’t have to hold my skirt up to get in/out of the car, and if I get mud on the boot upper I can just wipe it off.

Dress: Nic&Dom brand: ThredUP
Cardigan: Handmedown
Boots: Gianni Bini: ThredUP
Hat: Walmart: $3

You can’t see it, but I also wore a long-sleeved black Halftee for warmth and neckline coverage

I’m off to make some lemon blueberry muffins for breakfast… y’all have a great day! What did you wear to church yesterday?

  1. I love this whole ensemble! So cute!
Yesterday I wore a long black skirt with a black long-sleeved top,and then a jean jacket, floral-print scarf, and brown leather boots.
By the way, do you have any tips for styling hats like the one you're wearing? I love hats like that, but I always have trouble positioning them on my head so that they look good and stay put!

    1. Hey Katherine! I hope you don't mind my adding my two cents here. πŸ™‚
I love these styles of hats too, and have always tried and given up on the because they never look right. Then I went on a missions trip to Peru last year and bought a couple hats like this (made from Peruvian alpaca fiber, no less!) and I have found that there a couple things that make a big difference.
One, when shopping for a good hat, thick, heavier ones tend to stay put and hang much better than light, thin ones do.
Two, if you haven't tried this yet, wear it OVER your ears instead of above them. I find that this keeps it from sliding off and gives it a much better grip on my head, and thus, a nicer look that I don't have to keep adjusting all day. πŸ™‚
      Hope this helps!

  2. I love the boots and the cardigan is adorable!
I wore a comfortable pink sweater by bro got me last year, a dark wash denim skirt, and my favorite brown flats to church.

  3. I love this outfit! So simple, but put-together and cute, which is definitely my style!
Do you have any tips for wearing hats? I like the idea of wearing a head covering to church (and also just wish I looked better in winter hats when I want to keep my ears warm) but I just can't figure out how some people look so good in them, including you!

  4. I usually wear something cute on Sunday but this Sunday I wore jeans because I was in the nursery with little kids. I also wore my bright orange Bible Quizzing shirt for my meet right after church. So not to fancy. -Cora

  5. Oh, I love the outfit! Especially the cute flower detailing on the dress. Yesterday I wore a wool 1950's skirt+a striped boatneck tee and flats, but then I was called into the nursery…not exactly the most comfortable outfit for wrangling kiddos! I switched to a cotton maxi for the evening. (;

  6. Wow! This is so cute and simple. πŸ™‚ I was wondering… I have long, straight, very little volume hair… would I be able to wear a binni do you think? I've only seen girls with thick wavy or curly hair wear them, I'm not sure if it would look good!

    Thanks, Jazzy

  7. This outfit is adorable, Olivia!

What did I wear? A long royal blue, green and black-printed skirt, black short-sleeved mock turtleneck sweater and black boots. πŸ™‚

This is off topic, but who designed your website? I love the lace trim at the top of the blog posts.

  8. We weren't able to go to church yesterday due to all the ice on the roads! I really missed going, both to church and to the contada practice afterwards. We've had snow on the ground for 2 weeks straight, and have a chance of more this Thursday… I am thankful we don't live any further North than VA, though my younger sister is happy with all the white stuff, haha!
    Blessings,

  9. I LOVE your dress! The flowers look so pretty and the boots elegant nut still alright to wear on a muddy day. πŸ™‚
I wore a white shirt with a thin blue belt, a striped white and blue skirt, a blue-gold necklace that my sister gave me for my birthday, and black boots that my Grandma sent me that are absolutely beeeeooooootiful!!!
Tanks for sharing your outfit Olivia! I love all of your posts they are such a great encouragement.
    Thanks again,
    Emma

  10. I really like this outfit. The dark colors on a dreary day with bright pops of white! it's kind of cool that the white pops on this when people usually accent and outfit with pops of color.
