A little delayed in posting this, but it was too cute not to share! Ever bought a fabric not knowing what you could do with it but knowing someday you just *had* to use it because it was just adorable? Well, this black and white polka dot light corduroy I bought maybe a year and a half ago and have kept it in sight since then, waiting for inspiration to hit. To make a long story short, a few Saturdays ago I sewed this vest to wear to church the next day. The first time I wore it was with a pink shirt underneath in the same style as this black one.
I used these instructions. Except that I hate buttonholes and didn’t trust myself to make them neat, so these buttons are for effect and I just safety pin the vest when I wear it. Ahem. Don’t tell anyone.
I think safety pins are the best thing ever invented. Better than sliced bread.
I made my skirt, too. About a year ago I made the gored part out of white denim, neglecting to pre-wash it. Bad idea. It shrunk, and has been unwearably too short ever since.
So when I was organizing my fabric the other day, I found the left over white denim, and simply made a ruffle for it. (look at my shoes! they’re polkadotted too! I love when stuff matches like that. :D)
Totally one of my favorite outfits I’ve sewn!
