Why A Modest Fashion Blog?

We are ambassadors. Whether we realize it or not, the way we speak, act, and dress all show those we come in contact with Who or what we serve and represent. When I walk out of the house, I represent not only myself, but my family, my church, and most especially my Lord. Because of this, I believe it is important to embrace this inescapable aspect of our lives and craft our wardrobes to honor God.

Modesty is a heart attitude of serving and thinking of others as more important than ourselves. It is considering our brothers in Christ. It is choosing beauty over sensual. It is choosing the Lord’s ways over the world’s ways. It is living by design, not by default.

Fresh Modesty? What kind of name is that? It means just what it says. Modesty. Fresh Modesty. I absolutely love the definition of “Fresh” from the dictionary:

FRESH: 1. newly made or obtained. 2. recently arrived; just come. 3. new; not previously known, met with, etc.; novel: to uncover fresh facts. 4. additional or further: fresh supplies. 5. not salty, as water. 6.retaining the original properties. not stale or spoiled. 7. not tired or fatigued; brisk; vigorous.8. not faded, worn, obliterated, etc.: fresh paint; a fresh appearance. 9. looking youthful and healthy: a fresh beauty that we all admired. 10. pure, cool, or refreshing, as air. 11. clean, crisp, and uncomplicated. 12. exciting. appealing. informed. up-to-date.
Oftentimes once a Christian girl has convictions on modesty, she falls into a rut about what to wear or not to wear. Eventually we become discouraged, uninspired, and lack-luster. Let’s bolster our resources and keep our convictions! Modesty is not defined by the culture around us, but rather by the Word of God.

Isn’t it conflicting for a girl who claims to be modest to post 500 pictures of herself on the internet? At first glance, yes, it is. I struggle with this, and try to encourage my readers in the most humble way possible. I realize that real-life examples are sometimes hard to find, as well as practical, real tips for actual living in modest clothes. I’ve found posting pictures of what I’m wearing to be the easiest, most effective way to do this. I welcome critiques, challenges, and different perspectives. I hope that you will see my heart in this and take it for what it is. I do this for y’all.

In trying to encourage girls towards being cute but covered, I’ve developed two eBooks to aid in the creation of wearable, versatile pieces for your wardrobe and now am working to create a ready-made clothing line as well. I blog regularly to provide continued encouragement that dressing with fresh, renewed vision consistently is a joy.
